Algebraic and transcendental solutions of some exponential equations

We study algebraic and transcendental powers of positive real numbers, including solutions of each of the equations x = y, x = y, x = y, x = y, and x y = y. Applications to values of the iterated exponential functions are given. The main tools used are classical theorems of Hermite-Lindemann and Gelfond-Schneider, together with solutions of exponential Diophantine equations.

Classical transcendental solutions of the Painlevé equations and their degeneration

We present a determinant expression for a family of classical transcendental solutions of the Painlevé V and the Painlevé VI equation. Degeneration of these solutions along the process of coalescence for the Painlevé equations is discussed.

Analytic solution of transcendental equations

According to the assumption that si = sj for i = j, the matrix (5) has an inverse and the system (2) and (4) can be solved. We denote by V the Vandermonde determinant of the matrix (5) and by Vk the Vandermonde determinant of order (n − 1) of the variables s1, . . . , sk−1, sk+1, . . . , sn. We also denote by Φ r the fundamental symmetric function of the r-th order of (n − 1) variables s1, . . ...

Numerical Solution of Two Transcendental Equations

This paper deals with the study of the transcendental equations: sin(j + v)/(s + v) = ±sin(i v)/(s v), where v = (s2 y2)'/2. These equations are obtained in the study of some boundary value problems for a modified biharmonic equation using the PapkovichFadle series. Some numerical solutions obtained with an iterative procedure are given. Introduction. It is well known that the governing equatio...

Solving transcendental equations using Genetic Algorithms

Transcendental equations are equations containing trigonometric, algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, etc. terms. Many analytical/iterative methods are used to solve transcendental equations. Though these methods are capable of solving many transcendental equations they suffer from many common disadvantages. Usually transcendental equations have many solutions in a given range, and analytical m...
